Associate, Development Finance

If this sounds like the place where you would like to grow your career, we are currently seeking an Associate, Development Finance to join our team. The position will be based out of either our Campbell River, BC, or Victoria, BC, office with flexible work from home arrangements. The role will report to the Director, Development Finance.


Works closely with the Director, Development Finance to arrange and facilitate all of WestUrban’s financing requirements from land acquisition through construction, stabilization and takeout;

Supports the Director, Development Finance to analyze and evaluate new loan proposals;

Supports the lender due diligence and underwriting process;

Acts as the key administrator throughout the loan funding process;

Manages the credit dashboard and constantly analyzes the existing loan portfolio;

Prepares periodic and ad-hoc reports for the executive team and cross-functional business areas;

Conducts property/site inspections as needed for existing and potential properties (some travel required);

Monitors monthly project reporting and dashboards prepared by the project accounting team;

Maintains a solid understanding of market fundamentals and monitors key trends;

Performs other duties as required.


Undergraduate degree in real estate, finance, economics, accounting, technology or a related field;

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, preferably in real estate, construction, banking, finance or a related field;

Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;

Ability to create concise professional reports with thorough attention to detail;

Advanced analytical and quantitative skills with ability to manipulate large amounts of data and perform complex analysis;

Strong organizational and document management skills;

Ability to demonstrate initiative and confidence with decision making;

Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize workloads to adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment;

Self motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment;

Naturally inquisitive and enjoys solving complex problems;

Advanced education or a professional designation (completed or in process) is considered an asset;

Knowledge of the purpose-built apartment rental asset class and construction lifecycle is considered an asset.
